window dressing...

Inspired by the arrival of a chair we have had upholstered in gorgeous Irish linen with raspberry velvet buttons and trim, we decided to change up our window display - one of our very favourite things to do! We designed a special floating blossom artwork in gorgeous berry colours to complement the chair, and a smattering of cushions, a lampshade in our mondocherry kiss fabric and gorgeous fresh flowers finish the look off. The novelty of having our own shop to 'play' in has not worn off yet :)

As always, please email us if you are interested in any of the items in the photos or if you would like to order a custom artwork.

a perfect match...

Having fresh flowers in the house always makes me feel happy, but this bunch of ranuculars are extra gorgeous and I have found myself detouring through our family room just to catch a glimpse of them! The spectacular mix of pink, orange, peach and yellow are exactly the same colours in the 3 watercolours that my big girls painted for me to display on an empty mantlepiece. They match perfectly!

a jar of hearts...

A jar full of hearts is sitting on my work desk today waiting to be made into some colourful little garlands for our shop.  Just the thing to string across a window, a mantle or above a bed.

Available in our shop (3 Claremont Ave, Malvern, Melbourne) and coming soon to our website!

a pretty birthday tea...

Our gorgeous friend Polly (a fellow Mum from Kindy) has a real gift for making friends feel special. Last week she popped into our shop with some of her very scrummy cordial as a little pressie to say congrats on our new venture (yum!) and when we saw the photos of the afternoon tea she hosted for a friend's birthday, we just knew we had to share them with you. Polly didn't spend a lot of money but instead made the birthday tea ever so memorable with pretty styling, hand-made touches and lots of love.

Polly made this bunting from vintage fabrics. Don't the colours look perfect with the backyard setting?

Yummy strawberry cupcakes and lollies - what more do you need?!

Love the stamped labels Polly adds to her cordial.

A pretty centrepiece created from wild flowers, old bottles, brown paper and stamps. How cute are those little toadstools?

A special message  written on a backboard - easy and very effective.

Thanks so much for letting us share these photos Polly!

pleased with my find...

I found time over the weekend to visit a couple of op shops (thrift shops) which is something I love to do. I get such a thrill when I find something a bit different or special that just needs a bit of TLC. As soon as I saw this old dolly pram I just knew it was coming home with me.   I gave it a good clean and replaced the stained, torn vinyl seat and hood with some pretty fabric and it now looks very cute indeed. No 'before' photos of how shoddy it looked unfortunately - this was one of those times that I was so keen to give something a makeover that I forgot all about grabbing my camera!

fabric samples...

It is always exciting to receive some of our new fabric samples fresh from the printers. These pretty pinks, watermelon red, seaglass shades and sunny yellow patterns will soon be a part of our expanded range of cushions and lampshades, all of which we have designed to compliment our artworks. We will let you know as soon as they arrive in our shop and online store!

the magic of magnolias...

Hooray, it's Spring - my very favourite season. This is the first Spring we have spent in this house in Melbourne and so I am enjoying seeing the garden come to life. Someone really loved this garden at some point planting lots of bulbs as daffodils, jonquils, freesias and hyacinths are springing up in clusters in all the flower beds. But my favourite thing in the garden so far has to be the amazing magnolia trees in the front garden.  Since we moved in last December they have been ugly, almost dead-looking trees with hardly a leaf to be seen. But a couple of weeks ago they exploded into flower and what a show they have put on. Magnolias are such a stately, elegant flowers aren't they? The contrast of the pink underneath and white upper petals is spectacular and while I'll be sad when the trees finish flowering, I think I appreciate them all the more for the briefness of their season.
